ABOUT TAE KWON DO
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial art that translates to the “way of the hand and the foot“. The five tenets are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
Tae Kwon Do emphasizes kicks from mobile stances. It incorporates this with strikes, blocks, and take-downs. The legs are emphasized because they are longer and stronger than your arms. This makes for more power in the strike, as well as a decreased chance of a retaliatory strike.
Physical training develops flexibility, speed, balance, strength, and endurance. Learning the techniques and forms helps build mental discipline. When the physical and mental disciplines are joined, amazing feats such as the breaking of boards and blocks can be achieved.
